Default Beavis and Butthead

Ok, Family Guy came back on popular demand, and Futurama came back due to the fact it barely got to explore the territory it was aiming for.

But why the **** Beavis and Butthead?

I mean, firstly, the show got old after a few seasons.

Secondly, the show was brilliant but only made sense for it's time period, and has no relevance in the modern world. It's outdated as hell, and can only be understood by people who grew up in that era, really.

Thirdly, can't we find new ideas?

Such a cheap nostalgia pull. It's a shame that TV executives won't give new ideas a chance. I've only seen a piece of the new episode, and really the only funny bit was when they were covering reality shows. The rest was just pointless fanservice.

Anyone else's thoughts

No revelance in the modern world? All they have to do is rip on new pop culture references which they will be doing. Have you seen Allen Gregory? That cartoon is hilarious but slightly confusing, he is in elementary school with the knowledge of an adult

Honestly, pop culture references are fine. If they brought it back as a web series that just did music videos, then I'd be ok with it.

The problem is the fact that the characters are fairly specific stereotypes of 90s alterna-grunge-metal potheads. The youth of today are stupid, yes, but stupid in a very different way which makes Beavis and Butthead irrelevant.

If you do a show based on today's idiotic youth they would bitch and moan about it. Scene kids = bitchiest group of youths, ever.

I'm with IWP. Beavis and Butthead will always be, and still is now that it's airing again, one of the best and funniest shows on MTV.

I definetly agree. You can't just swap out the pop culture topics and expect it to make sense now. The show was so deeply integrated into 90s culture that there seems to be no way to adapt it now. I personally was let down by the new episode but not by any means surprised.

What gets me though is the fact that Mike Judge actually sort of did do a satire for the 2000s brand of stupidity called 'idiocracy' that was ****ed over by the studios ten million ways to Sunday, but still was an awesome film:

I would really kill to see an idiocracy show, even in cartoon form.
