Whatever Happened to...?
I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread about what things were like before they became watered down, bastardized, and violated.
Ok, here's mine. Whatever happened to hardcore? You know, like Black Flag, Pg.99, City of Caterpillar, Ink & Dagger, Refused, and a bunch of other bands I haven't been able to list due to sleepiness. Nowadays we have kids touting metalcore and post-hardcore bands as "HxC". Bands such as Bring Me The Horizon and Attack Attack. To me, this new garbage seems like trendy crap aimed towards hot topic kids who are unhappy with their life... for no fucking reason. [/endrant] This To this |

This song is from a couple of years ago but I don't think they've released anything since. It reminds you of the good old days of Black Flag and Minor Threat These guys are a bit more popular and have some great songs such as this

I like Bring Me The Horizon.
I had the preconception that they were just a bunch of scene kids who made pointless noise, but I gave them a listen, and there are some really good songs on their latest albums. Architects are also a good modern harder band. Not quite sure if they fall into the 'hardcore' category, but they're worth a listen. To answer your question, whatever happened to garage music? It seemed to just fizzle out around the end of 2001. |
