Yep. They said we have to fill between ten and thirty minutes or so. The other open mic that I go see on Tuesdays is also kind of like that. They usually have between 8-12 musicians sign up, start at 10, and let them go through until the bar closes (2am). Last time I was there, there was a country guy who played through a bunch of his new material because he had a gig the following night and wanted to test it out, and he probably played for 35minutes. The next guy was just a dude with an acoustic playing nothing but cover songs, and he still played for at least half an hour. Then we usually have some stand-up sprinkled in, occasional poetry readings, and rarer, monologue work.

I've actually been thinking about running through theatrical scenes from plays I'm writing next month (the one I'm going to is every third Friday) but really need to check out an open mic with music just to get that done. I've just played in front of friends, and once drew a small crowd sitting outside on the main drag of Ashland and playing.

Looking at your list, I'd say thumbs up and go for it, but if you're in a place anywhere like us, you may want to say that such and such are cover songs..

The folks around here thought my buddy wrote "Rocky Raccoon" himself, and they hate his Why cover because it's about a chicken. I hate the bar we go to.

I wish you the best of fun on your night... Seems fine to me, and it should go over well no matter what the patrons and other musicians think. It's all in good fun.
Oh, definitely going to straight-up say that my covers are covers. Only problem with this open mic is that it's in a dry part of the county, and all I'll have to calm my nerves is tea and coffee, lol.

I would like to play "Communist Daughter" at some point, heh. Just want to play a song that people will have heard before to get the thing started off.
