I've been addicted to cigarettes since I was about 16, but I've been smoking since 13. The sad thing is that I can quit cold turkey and stay that way for months or even years at a time, but I always go back. I had my last one on Wednesday and am hoping to make it til finals week in December when I inevitably get that urge, and with any luck by then I'll be completely over it and can get through it without one.

My only other real addiction is caffeine. I can real feel it when I don't have my morning cup of coffee, I can hardly think, keeping my head propped up is difficult, and finding the energy to do anything is pretty much impossible. I've tried weening myself onto tea, but it just doesn't have the same kick to it as coffee and I can't stomach energy drinks. If there's one addiction I'll never give up, it's going to be this.

I have my addictions. Most I am over now, and it was a few years ago at university. Now, I tend to use them as a crutch when I am angry, upset etc.

I'm a bit of a germaphobe where I tend to wash my hands a bit excessively from time to time. I also go around and spray down all my surfaces with Lysol spray.

I have a rather addictive personality. I'm mostly over it now but there was a time for a few years I was doing anything and everything, from coke, ketamine, and MDMA, to speed, morphine, and boozing like a fiend. Mind you, I was also on some rank anti-depressants that made me so numb that I was doing drugs just to feel something. Then I met this guy who made it is goal to get us ****ed up all the time. The combo nearly killed me, but I've been in recovery from chemical drugs for a little more than a year now. I still get high on weed but it's more therapeutic than drug-related now. My first step off drugs was quitting the anti-depressants cold turkey. I never looked back and I've never been happier.

I was a smoker, 20 a day for about 7 years and socially before then (I'm 22, I started when I was 11 maybe 1 or 2 with friends, then by 14 was smoking heavy). But I gave up last year, cold turkey as well. It can be done, it takes alot of willpower though - thankfully I have been blessed with two very stubborn parents, and it has rubbed off on me so my willpower and determination is through the roof when I decide to do something.

I smoke, but I think I could give up anytime if I actually wanted to. I smoke roughly 5 a day. Like pete I can stop for ages but I always end up crawling back. I binge drink also, but I'd never call it an addiction. More of a habitual impulse. I have to wash my hands three times with the soap, otherwise everything has to be even numbers.
