Yeah, Patrick is from the Latin name Patricius, which meant "nobleman" it's related to words like Patrician.

It's probably common in Irish naming because of Saint Patrick, who I'm sure you've all heard of. I can't remember where he initially came from, but it was a Roman province, so you get the idea.
