Default World Trade Center Unveiled

The newly designed WTC has been unveiled and looks really great to me.

They're said to begin next year. What do you think of it?

It looks great, but it looks like if a plane hits it, it will shatter to pieces.

Here's a thought; let's stop labeling music and fighting over what genre a certain band is, and start listening to whatever pleases our ears no matter what anyone thinks of it! ;)

It's suppose to echo the look of the Statue of Liberty. I think it does a great job in that.

It looks like it wouldn't take much to me, but I don't think anyone is that dumb to build something that is so important and not make it strong enough to hold up if a hurrican comes or if a plane hits it. After 9-11 you wouldn't think they would do that, but then again they could have stopped 9-11 all together from what I here.

The WTC should have been able to sustain the plane, but it had a weak structural design. When it was built the 747s were not around and therefore there was no reason to construct a building that would be able to sustain one. The building was able to sustain crashes from planes that were the biggest at the time, but not ones that were not yet built.

Anybody else think the new WTC design looks like something out of Earth: Final Conflict? Sorry, nerd side coming out...

Cool

i would imagine that they use polymers

the same type used for bullet-proof glass or better

btw -- some of the polymers are actually bomb proof

once its on the glass
it becomes part of the glass

one of the big selling points
i always thought
was that the weakness of your home was shifted from something relatively easy to breach
-- a breakable glass window
into something not so easy nor quick to get through
-- the walls

with a plastic brick house covered in that stuff
you'd have a nice bomb shelter with all the comforts of home
