"k" or "kk" (not sure why people do that one).

Edit: forgot about smilies.

Nosferatu Man 05-19-2011 05:40 PM

I received a pretty ****ty text today; 'We are sorry to inform you that due to an error in our system you were over-credited on your last top up, your balance has been deducted by EUR4. If you have any queries text 'INFO' to.....'

Horrible.

If you send a text saying we will be meeting at the movies at 9pm then I think it's perfectly fine to say "k" or even "ok" to acknowledge that I understand and will follow through with the plan.

i think there's nothing wrong with the "k" or "ok" response.
wen i'm talking about something, it's better to receive an "ok" response than a jessica simpson look (dumb) from one of your friends.

What's the deal with that? I've seen it before and couldn't fathom what it could possibly mean. Is there an actual reason people do that?

It's hard to explain without demonstrating in person. It's basically like stressing a word at the vowel point (even though the constanat is the letter multiplied. So audibly, "thisssssssssssss would sound like [thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiissss]. it's done to sound cute, to indicate a playful tone, etc

Wow, that's dumb. Why not just repeat the actual letter you mean to emphasize instead of making it look like you're trying to sound like a sssssssssnake?

TheBig3 05-20-2011 07:49 AM

I think they do repeat the "s" in this. I don't know who the hell Conan is hanging out with.

The Virgin 05-20-2011 07:51 AM

replying with sssssssssssss seems cute.

this gives me a feeling that the other one wants to finish "talking" asap,if typing one more letter"o" or a smiley face is wasting of time for him/her,it means you dont mean much to him/her=( maybe it is not right, but i just feel it that way=(

TheBig3 05-20-2011 10:24 AM

I can see why you'd think that, but I just assume people are lazy ****s

She wasn't in jail in Terminator 2. :p:

ThePhanastasio 05-22-2011 12:39 PM

I hate typing something, and then getting, "okay...?" in response. Or also when people respond with, "right?" that irritates me, too.

s_k 05-22-2011 03:16 PM

I hate people using '...' to point out that you've just said something stupid.
It's so pejorative (according to google translate, who ever made that word up?)

Bloozcrooz 05-22-2011 03:20 PM

...

s_k 05-22-2011 03:25 PM

I knew that would happen when I saw 'Boozinbloozin' posted the last reply.
You, sir, are very predictable.

"oh" "k" or "ok"

Mostly "oh" though probably. It's like are you in a mood with me or something!? D:

oh.

but umm seriously, you are overthinking it, there is no mood or anything.

s_k 05-25-2011 02:00 PM

Sometimes there is. And believe me (sorry ladies) girls know all about saying how they feel in one word :D.
"I'm sorry for what I just said..."
"Okay"

Well I know if I write "oh" to someone, I'm definitely in a mood with them..I'd write normally "oh right :')" or whatever to show some sort of interest in what they'd just said or else it looks rude

okay well you using "oh" means that you are in a mood about something but that doesn't necessarily mean they are using it the same way you do.

If I write "oh" , there is no hidden meaning behind that just take it at face value.

"Okay"

lol I missed this and I didn't want to point it out but yes females have a tendecy to be over dramatic and just say how they feel in one word instead of really saying how they feel.

Stop being complicated and be simple like most guys are.

Yeah I guess, that's just how I see it, it just looks like they're not interested and cba with talking to you really or something.

someonecompletelyrandom 05-25-2011 03:57 PM

I agree with Stacey, that's how it looks. I understand it's not always the case though.

just because someone says "oh" maybe they don't have anything else to add that doesn't mean they don't care about what was being said.

Also, why can't you just continue the conversation? do you really need their input? just keep talking about what you want to and if they don't want to be bother they better speak up and say something.

Yeah I know that, but an "oh right" wouldn't go a miss even. If it were in a normal talking convo I think it's fine, but to see it written down seems weird to me.

And you can I know, it just makes me feel like well I'm not going to make the effort if they're not.
