Well there are some area's of women's bodies I rather see shaved.
I should add though that I don't feel like they HAVE to in general, but I think it would be nice if they did it because I liked it, in the same way that, as long as it isn't my beard, I wouldn't mind shaving whatever she wants for a girl. So far no requests, but I wouldn't mind. It's more about preference than about expectance (is that a word? You know what I mean, I guess).

Eitherway, I don't know why girls would have to shave their arms. I never ran into a girl that has male-like-hairy-arms. It seems a bit unneccesary.

Yes, s_k, in the best of all possible worlds, people do things because they like making their partner happy, and if they shave they do so just because of a 'preference' rather than an 'expectance'...and that *is* a word!

In my experience, though, shaving...at least for women...is usually all about 'expectance' and avoidance of negative feelings and reactions if they *don't* shave.

I feel your comment that 'I never ran into a girl that has male-like-hairy arms' such that you don't know why girls would have to shave their arms, shows what is behind much of women's shaving: women feel they are ugly if they have hair that 'looks like a man's'...and they are MADE to feel ugly if they do.

And why? After all, if women only 'have' to shave if they have 'male-like-hairy' bodies, then the fact that most women dipilate huge areas of their bodies suggests women have body hair that is very similar to men's. If their hair didn't look like men's, then they wouldn't feel they 'needed' to shave, right?

Why all this hate for mammalian hair? Are people uncomfortable with being animals? Look at the comments from this thread:

I'd questioned shaving my chest/stomach because every summer when I get my six pack back AGAIN, I always think it just looks weird hairy.

I think body hair can be horrible Erica. I prefer men with hairless backs/chests. The rest doesn't bother me. The thought of me touching his chest and hair inbetween my fingers makes me feel pretty revolted tbh.

Erica, ugly is a word that exists for a reason.
Although, beauty is in the eye of the beholder...and the blind.

People should talk stuff like this over.

I don't know. I mean, if a women has hair like a man on her arms this may be natural, but it's not normal. If you're a bald headed woman, you often also wear a wig because it's just too far from the 'ordinary'.
I would have problems thinking of a bald woman as 'sexy'. This may be sick, but it's not like I can help it.
No saint am I, but when I compare myself to most guys nowadays I think I'm not asking an awful lot of 'my' women , but I still have my preferences. You could call this wrong, but as I said; It's not like I can convince myself to fall for a girl who has a lot of body hair. It's just impossible for me to do so.

Eitherway, what I was trying to say; I don't think a woman should reflect herself to the (photoshop) ideals that are to be found in commercials and so on, but I think the amount of body hair you have has a lot to do with the culture you live in, the country you come from. And if you differ from the 'average' too much, I think it's a good idea to adapt. Natural my ass, you're only making life harder on yourself if you don't. I should know .

For me women with too much body hair is disgusting. Dark hair on the forearms is a dealbreaker for me, its just too much and I cant deal with it. If I see it thats all I will ever see on that girl, as shallow as it is. The same with pubic hair, I'm lucky enough to have never encountered a big bush of it, and if I ever do I'd have to question the girl's personal hygiene because its not too much hassle to clean up down there every once in a while.

And before anyone says anything, I am not a hypocrite. I am all for manscaping, an I keep myself well maintained. I am of the opinion that if I expect it of others, the least I can do is takecare of my own business as well.

My forearms are hairy as fook though, people can just deal with it.

I don't mind hairy legs and arms. Anything but the chest and back. *shudder*
