The topic *is* interesting to me, though, because just this last week while in orchestra I started looking at women's and men's forearm hair after I noticed that some of the women appeared to have no hair at ALL on their forearms. Are they shaving their forearms, I wondered??? Then yesterday I saw one of the women with her preschool daughter, and I could see that the *daughter* had arm hair...just like little girls and boys both usually have leg hair. So then I was left wondering whether the little girl inherited her dad's arm hair...or whether her mom shaves hers off. I couldn't find much on the Web about the percentage of women in the U.S. who shave their arm hair, but the trend is mentioned and some sources suggested 15%. My guess is that the 'hairlessness' norm is just continuing to increase, boosted by peer pressure and fear of social rejection, and so the number of forearm shavers will rise. I am waiting with great expectation and amusement for when eyebrows disappear. Apparently, shaving armhair is really popular among Japanese women: Quote:
