Yup. It's a shitty situation.

While we're on the topic, my German teacher told me about how he likes screwing with the German students by showing them how screwed up the English phonetic system is. It really cracked me up.

Tough "This word is pronounced 'tuff' "
Though "So how is this one pronounced?" "Thuff?" "No!"
Thought "This one?" "Thout?" "No!"
Through "This one?" "Throw?" "No!

Ironically, a word I often misspell is "misspelling."

I can never remember if it has 2 s's or one. Generally, to avoid this issue, I just write, "I don't spell such and such correctly." Or I google the word. I've googled it a lot. I googled "mispelling" before making this post. :/

I hope, now that I've written about my spelling problem, I'll never misspell 'mispelling' again.

You've spelled it a number of ways already in your single post, haha.

The word I used to have problems with is "independence". I used to spell it "independance" for some reason.

Onomatopoeia (Thanks Hey Arnold! for introducing this word to me ) also kicks may ass a lot as the only reason that it's spelled right in this post is due to copy and paste.

Well, *that* was intentional, Pedestrian. :) At least I didn't write "missspelling," as if I were talking about...

Ee-gads, I never hazard a shot at "onamatopia" without checking how to spell it first, too. It is a great word, though, isn't it?

Recommend is one I sometimes struggle with, I am always tempted to out an extra c in, and maybe take an m out. SO I can choose between 'reccommend', 'reccomend' and recommend'.

I'm pretty sure its one c two m's.

Definite(ly) was one I used to struggle with, I'd always use an a instead of the second i. I also have an issue with one hand typing quicker than the other, so the letters in words sometimes get jumbled up where my right hand will move quicker then the left.
