Advise for Lexington Trip
 

Hello everyone. I'll be goint to Lexington, Kentucky next week for a one month company training. I would just like to know do we have anyone who lives there? What should I expect? Are people nice there? Is it true that they don't have the nicest food?



I'm gay by the way, a bit camp, and I hope you can give me advise if majority of the people there are homophobic so I can try to forcedly suppress my gayness. Also, I'm going alone and I can't drive, so most probably i'll be riding a cab, is taxi accessible there?

Been there twice on business also. Richmond is where i stayed. People are genuinely nice, lots of good eateries, not sure how close to Lexington they are.

Two of the better places i ate at. I would venture to say most people are gonna side towards being homophobic its the bible belt and you should expect it.

Lexington, from what I've experienced there, isn't horribly homophobic, but it's like pretty much any place I've been in America (22/50 states). There are some pretty sweet music venues that I've been to in Lexington - Cosmic Charlie's is definitely worth a visit, I'd say. Bar + Music, and it's for ages 21 and over, so you don't have to deal with as much of the University crowd as a lot of other places in the city.

And from what I remember, cab fare is pretty decent there. There are always good things available in hotels which give you the names and numbers for takeout, cabs, and local attractions. They're pretty accessible.

I'm about an hour and a half or two hours from Lexington myself, but I spend a lot of time in Richmond or Berea, with trips to Lexington for concerts and to visit friends who go the University of Kentucky.

Yes, winter is over. Has been since March. It was about 40 degrees and rainy earlier in the week - it rains here a lot during spring.

Today, there's a high of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. So, about 21 degrees Celsius. It still gets as low as about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, or, 10 degrees Celsius at night.

It is supposed to rain or be cloudy most of next week, though.

I'm already here in Lexington, Newtown Pike. Dang, the place is really, really nice and almost all American guys are see are intensely hot. So cute. Lots of handsome men. Just as I expected.

There are gay bars in Lexington. Check one of those out - there are attractive guys at those.

i can't go to gay bars cause i'm with my office colleagues and i can't drive, i have to ask one of them to drive me there and that would be so embarrasing. and it's such a bummer that I dont see a single cab/taxi here. i see buses but i'm not sure of their routes.

If you think the guys in a Kentucky Walmart are hot I'd imagine a trip to somewhere like L.A. or Miami would blow your mind.

if i go to a gay bar or night gimmicking/party/clubbing here, would $50 be enough as pocket money? that includes transportation by the way, or am i being too thrifty for my leisure budget? i don't plan to eat, just drink.

It really depends on where you're located. During the week, a lot of places either don't have covers at the door to get in, or the cover is REALLY cheap, so that's one expense you won't really have to worry as much about. Keep in mind that you have to calculate your cab fare to AND from the club of your choice. And definitely make sure to write down the number for a cab so you can call them when you're leaving as well.

Drinks are fairly affordable - you're looking $3 max for a beer at the places in Lexington I've been. A lot of times, there are specials (especially for margaritas!) in which you get a lot of alcohol for $10 or so.

So really, you could realistically work with $50, I'm sure - but maybe taking an extra $20 just in case wouldn't be a horrible idea.

Haha - because I've gone to them before looking for attractive gay girls, but there tend to be way more really pretty gay men there.

Figures. I can't really tell if a guy is good looking.

I really can't tell if a guy's unattractive or not. I can tell if they're horrible deformed or have jacked teeth...but, like, I don't see why everyone thinks, for example, that Thom Yorke is child-frighteningly ugly. I think he looks normal.

Which is apparently why my gay guy friends won't let me try to hook them up with other dudes. I might give them a Thom Yorke or something, not realizing my error.

i just rode a bus from my office and i did not noticed i need to pull the yellow wire to signal stop. i ended up like touring the whole lexington for over an hour. but i spotted a really cute guy, perhaps a teenager (can't tell if an american is a teenager or not cause all of them looks very mature), he is so delicious. he has beautiful eyes, nice lips, i swear, white guys are downright very suckable. on the other hand, i noticed a lot of girls here are very, very huge. i mean like, they're insanely fat. i saw one in walmart who ride a sort of mini-car while she goes shopping and boy she is like 500 pound or something, really really big woman!

The best one is probably The Bar Complex on Main St. - they have all types there. Rugged, manly gay guys, gay frat boys, handsome guys who don't necessarily even look gay, twinks - pretty much anything you'd be looking for. They've also got a lot of stuff to do there, good drink specials...

Like, there's a room where you can shoot pool and stuff. A dance floor. BUT I'm not entirely sure how it is in the middle of the week - I've only been there on weekends.

ok, so aside from Bar Complex, I found out (thru some patronizers of Bar Complex in facebook) that there are other bars I can try venturing out (Crossings & Soundbar), and I was about to go out this evening but I didn't...why? my friends here scared me to death that Lexington is a very 'unpopulated' place and that I might just meet a serial killer and throw me off somewhere..I really, really want to go but the thought of it scared me so much. and the freezing weather didn't helped at all.... guess i may try next week (and build some courage)....huh! i'm so dissappointed right now...

hello guys, i've gone to lots of places here in Lexington (but not on any gay bars yet, still looking forward), here is the one place I will never forget....WENDY'S!!!! oh my god, the burger is so huge!!!! i'm on my second week stay here in Lexington and their food are so huge servings, i immediately gain, probably more than 20 pounds if i'm not mistaken... i don't mind though, i like my booty big and juicy..hehe

indeed, even their Kiddie meal at Subways is already like a regular meal for an adult in the Philippines. just wow.

I wish the Wendy's around here had burgers that big. Everytime I get a burger from Wendy's it's like a stampede ran over it before they wrapped it in foil. I still love their Frosty's and their chicken nuggets (although Chick-Fil-A rules all in terms of chicken).

Our serving sizes are pretty big here in America, you'll get fat pretty quickly lol. I'm pretty sure a mean from McDonalds is like basically an entire day's worth of calories.

i went to fayette and they got this food court which serves asian food, none of it was Asian at all..it was more of like putting veggies and chicken in one whole plate...it's so huge...and the taste is not asian... most of AMericans here think that you can put anything on top of rice and call it an asian.. no..
