It's because they have to cater ethnic food to fit American tastes. The average American would probably not find authentic Asian food extremely appetizing.

generally, authentic asian food means not mixing your food.. here, they mix all the rice, chicken, vegetables, sauce...no...that's just wrong... an asian food means you have to put those foods on separate plates...but then again, I'm on foreign land so I shouldn't complain..hehe

but honestly, if there's one thing that i really, really like here in Lexington, it's the hot guys!!! this weekend, i'm planning to go to a gay bar, hopefully, they're not too discriminating towards orient people like myself.. white guys are hot!!!

I really don't think they'd be too discriminating at all - I'm actually surprised that you've not seen a fairly large Asian population in Lexington. They have over, what, 200,000 people there? We have around 22,000 people in my city, and I know quite a few people who are Asian, Indian, etc. Even a few people from England who ended up here somehow.

You may just be in a weird part of Lexington. I don't know exactly where you are. I was actually in Richmond a few nights ago, which is right outside of Lex.

Asian food in America is nothing like Asian food in Asia.

Nor in Britain.

The vast majority of food (here in the U.S.) that is said to be cultural, is a bastardization of its original self. Our "Asian" food isn't even close though.

but if they put the rice on one plate (without adding any spices and all, just plain rice), the veggies on the other plate, the chicken on the other plate, the sauce on the other plate, the soup on the other bowl, spices on the other plate....then, probably, real Asian cuisine can be introduced here in America..otherwise, it just looks like a pigswill... a big no no...

Where in the Hell are you eating in Lexington?! Haha - was it the Fayette Mall? If so, nothing in that food court is of any higher quality than fast food.

The nice Chinese couple who run the best Asian food place here in Ashland actually do separate all of the food into different containers, even if it's takeout. I never actually thought anything of it, until you brought up that they mixed everything together for you at the place you went. But I guess that if you want more legitimate Asian food, maybe the mall wouldn't be the best place. Hell, maybe not even Lexington - I have no idea.
