I'm sure that it has already been mentioned here that John le Carré died.
Knowing nothing of his novels or the movies that were made around them,
I've still been fascinated by hearing him speak just a few years ago on
"Fresh Air" while I was in the car. An hour long interview with him -
from Democracy Now - that was re-broadcast on Xmas day
(in two parts in the videos below) was a real delight to hear
because it just cements my whole idea of him as a really great thinker -
much in the same way that I felt after hearing Lord Jonathan Sumption
one evening as part of the Reith Lectures (my wife offered comparisons to
Alan Watts as well this afternoon). Well worth spending the time here:
