They were just doing a California thing in Seattle

Yeah Green River and Mudhoney were a part of it but to say they were the core is a bit of a stretch. Again, grunge isn't a style of music. Like Janz was saying it's just a marketing term. The Seattle scene was led by the big four. They represented a bit of diversity in the sounds coming out of the area when it came to Seattle rock music.

So how do you feel about the idea that grunge was largely corporatized?
