Wow, Jose Fernandez passed away today... unbelievable. Not sure how many people on here are baseball fans, but he was one of the top pitchers in the league, and at only 24 years old had his whole life ahead of him, crazy.

Yeah, that was a big shocker. I'm a huge baseball fan, and the Marlins are one of my teams--I grew up in Miami/South Florida. I saw Fernandez in person a number of times--I live in New York now and I'm also a Mets fan (I actually became a Mets fan all the way back in the 1980s when I was living in Miami--we had no local major league team yet, I couldn't watch the Indians very often (I was born and lived the first part of my life in Cleveland--they're my #3 baseball team), and in the 80s, we had WOR on cable TV and they were the Mets channel back then), plus I visit South Florida often because my parents, sisters and their families, etc. all still live there, so I saw Fernandez pitch at Marlins Park a few times, too.

Seriously unbelievable and this guy had major talent and will be a huge loss. Way too young to die. May he rest in peace and my thoughts go out to his family and teammates.

Did anyone catch the press conference his team gave? Heartbreaking.

RIP to Arnie. An amazing human being. He gave so much back during his lifetime. How many people are alive today because of him?

Yeah, it was difficult to watch Don Mattingly try to talk about it.

I don't know how the heck the Marlins are going to manage to play the Mets tonight. Martin Prado said something about this, too--he just doesn't know how they're going to be able to prepare to play. And Fernandez was due to start tonight.
