I agree with you completely about contemporary R&B. To me, it's R&B in name only.

Yes, David Lynch's passing is sad. He certainly made his mark. I remember reading an interview with him in a book about cult movies where the interviewer said (and I paraphrase) that despite the horror film trappings, Eraserhead was more of a very black comedy. Lynch replied that it was and the interviewer was the first one he had encountered who realized that.
