Crap! Not Vangelis! He was a hero of mine! :(

My Dad had a lot of his 8-Tracks when I was growing up but he never really clicked with me. I guess Steve Stevens was a fan as well and recently posted up some references to his early stuff before going solo:

"Deservedly dodgy reputation" among who? Rock critics that hate all "new age" music as a concept? Who gives a sh*t what they think?
Vangelis composed the Blade Runner soundtrack, that's a pretty good reputation if you ask me. Ok he also did Chariots of Fire which is pretty cheesy and has been parodied to death, it being his most well known composition has never really gelled with me, I could see why people would pass on his work based on Chariots of Fire alone but that would be a huge mistake. He's done some excellent stuff as a solo artist but Aphrodite's Child were great too, they started out as a psychedelic pop band (and a good one) but then they went out in a blaze of prog rock excess glory, 666 is one of the most bonkers concept albums I've ever heard, I love it. |

And the cops and hookers of Vice City breath a sigh of relief. You will be remembered, King.
