Just cos you've never heard of Steinman doesn't mean nobody has. I had no clue - still don't - who DMX is/was, but quite clearly the only reason he got so much coverage here was due to addidass's decision that he was going to rake him over the coals about his homophobic lyrics. It's nothing against DMX, just a reaction to Batty's flippant comment which implies nobody knew who Steinman was, which I assure you people certainly did.

I reckon had adi not gone on his rant there would have been a post or two about BMX sorry DMX and that would have been it. My point being that unless you're ****ing HUGE like Prince or Bowie, you need to have done or been accused of having done something controversial for people to take notice. Rostasi posts eulogies to people here all the time whom I don't know - mostly jazz guys I guess - and nobody acknowledges them, or very seldom anyway. I just feel for a talent like Steinman to pass and nobody know or care, but a rapper who I didn't know (and why would I? I know sod-all about the hip of the hop) to get so much coverage annoys me a little. Probably would not have had it not been for Batty's sarcasm, which really was uncalled for, but that's Batty for you.

Say hello to the Fake OH for us next time you're in work by the way.

DMX was bigger for our generation than Prince or Bowie. When it came out I couldn't go a day in middle school without hearing kids reciting "Ruff Riders Anthem".

batlords comment was after yours as far as I can see. You went straight into whining that nobody mentioned dudes death before batlord said anything which once again... If he was that big people would probably be talking about him. I never heard of him. And I don't care that you never heard of DMX nor would I have expected you to.

the fact you can't appreciate an artist like dmx is somewhat disappointing given your gloomy/goth aesthetic. He's actually the perfect rapper for someone with a bleak outlook on life. Too bad you're too white to like hip hop.

Suburban white people are the largest market for everything.

Danny brown is good but he's the kind of rapper that is typical for a white boy rock fan who doesn't like rap.

The fact that you can't appreciate rappers like DMX or Prodigy makes you seem way less punk rock to me tbh

That's one of the silliest things you've ever said about music. I assume you're talking about the scope of difficulty of music that someone can appreciate. In that case, the only thing that ruins people's listening palate is lack of musicality, curiosity, and exposure. You just think punk is the way forward in music appreciation because that's how it works for you.
Someone who knows punk like you know hip hop thinks it's Green Day and stuff and would also be convinced that it ruins listening palates

And you base all your opinions on white people cause that's the only world you know

I wonder how black people who support blm feel about hip hop?

My point is you are actually too white

You are obsessed with some punk rock aesthetic that makes you dismiss hip hop in general. Not just specific rappers but the art form as a whole. Fight is as you may, that's definitely a whiteboy move. It's literally indistinguishable from rednecks who say can't spell crap without rap as if that's remotely clever. The fact that you diss your parents rock music doesn't change this at all.
