Liam Reilly, the lead singer of Irish band Bagatelle, has died aged 65.

The family of the pianist, singer and songwriter confirmed his passing in a statement today.

"With sad hearts, the family of Liam Reilly, musician, songwriter and frontman of Bagatelle, wish to confirm that he passed away suddenly but peacefully at his home on January 1st 2021"

Very sad to hear of the passing of Liam Reilly, lead singer and songwriter with Irish band Bagatelle, who had hits with "Summer in Dublin", "Trump Card" and "Second Violin", but this is my favourite of their songs.

Slan go foill, Liam. Beannacht De leat.

Doesn't make him any less dead though.

Sad farewell to Gerry Marsden, famous for the song "You'll Never Walk Alone", which he recorded with his band Gerry and the Pacemakers, and which became the official team song of Liverpool football club.

Well, that's sad Trollheart. You'll never walk alone must surely hold the record as the most frequently-sung pop song of the 60s. In fact I just learned that it goes back to before Gerry Marsden's version: "You'll Never Walk Alone is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel."
I used to like Ferry Cross The Mersey, also sentimental, but a bit more lively. GM certainly had a great singing voice:-
