Sorry to see this. He was a real inspiration in a lot of ways. I remember his
visits to our house (my mother was friends with him) in addition to all of the
great recordings he made and, of course, the radio shows. It’s funny that in the
past few years I’ve often thought of him - most certainly because of his advanced age -
but also, lately, in relation to a family friend who is only about a week younger than him.
Nearly 99 years old and he still had a head full of fun ideas that went unrealized.
People like him, wonderfully eccentric and just bursting with creative ideas,
are the ones that bring such joy to my life. Let’s all keep staring with our ears.
