I think it's cruel to not feel sad that someone's decline in health brought them to a place where death is a relief. Also, sadness is almost always self centred and in cases of death there's empathy.

An online friend of mines passed away from a heart attack. It is hitting me harder than I expected. I have known him for about six years or so. I met him in person at a guild meet up. He was the raid leader of what I called the scrub crew in WoW. We were still gearing up but not good enough to be part of the progression raid groups. He was always so helpful and kind to new members. He would also play online with his two daughters. I ended up meeting his whole family at our in person guild meet up. Just feeling sad about his passing.

So sorry DJ.
In 2009 my closest friend via the internet died. We'd never even met but were extremely close. His wife called me from the hospital the day before he died so we could say goodbye to each other. Still hurts to this day. e-relationships can be pretty damn powerful.

Sorry, man. In a way online relationships can be just as deep as personal ones. Since you're writing everything, you might tend to say more to an online friend than you would if you were face to face. Hope you can get over it ok. Is there a mother in the picture? (Thinking about the two daughters you mentioned: hope they're not left as orphans).

Thanks guys.
TH, I still have to find out as well. It was a concern on my mind. I'm sure someone in his family will look after them.
