Who is making excuses for Islam? It's built on a bunch of fucked up shit and no small amount of violence, like most religions. People have been inspired to do horrible things in the name of it. I think all people are saying to you is that the world is a complicated place and simply harping on the badness of a religion isn't very productive.

I think it's plenty to bring to the table. The footing is as sure as obesity and diabetes.
