Jokes aside, I bet any remaining collection of music notes/journals he kept would be fascinating.

I have his instruction book "Reaching for the Uncommon Chord". The way the guy approached melody and harmony was insane. There's guys who have spent their entire lives trying to fully grasp his stuff. Nico Stufano being one of the most notable.

My heart goes out to anyone stupid enough to contribute to a rockstar's funeral fund.

Allan Holdsworth was a rockstar? You are so far off your rocker dude on this one you should simply just slink away.

Your comments are actually insulting in a serious way.

Way to not give him the power.

Apparently Holdsworth died in Vista, which is about 2 miles from where I live. I think I've seen him perform at one of the local clubs before, possibly with Mark Lessman, because he looks very familiar to me in his more recent photos. Could just be my prejudice that tells me all white guys look the same though, as I'm not sure if he performed in his later years.

Saw him a few times during the late 70s and early 80s when he was ONFIRE. Always a small club that would be packed to the gills. At that point of his career he was blowing the minds of all of the recognized guitar heroes. EVH, Alex Lifeson, Zappa, McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, Steve Morse, all came out and basically said that Holdsworth left them stupid.

Throw away the guitar, his compositions are are breathtaking.

If my suspicions are correct, he was still epic live. I think he was the guitarist I thought was playing an organ until I glanced over and smacked the floor with my jaw.

We share jaw scars dude. Ask me tomorrow about the time he asked me to get off of his car.

Can't say I am more than a casual fan of the band but this one is tough...
