Tony Sly from No Use For A Name at age 41:
In Memoriam: Tony Sly - News: Fat Wreck Chords

While I am not a huge fan of the band, I liked some of their stuff.

Not a big fan either but its a shame at such a young age. Not a real fan of Fatwreck period.

Just made a thread about this in Punk.

It's been 50 years today since the death of Marilyn Monroe. I didn't know where else to put this, but I saw someone posted about it on Facebook and figured i'd post it here.

I saw Gore Vidal at a book festival 6 years ago. He was in a wheelchair and not looking well. I'm surprised he lived until this summer.

Anyway, check out this list of musician deaths.

Director Tony Scott, brother of Ridley Scott, died yesterday after jumping off a bridge in California. Certainly it was a suicide and I am sad that he took his own life. RIP.

Scott McKenzie (born Philip Wallach Blondheim, January 10, 1939 – August 18, 2012) best known for his 1967 hit single and generational anthem, "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)".
The song, by John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas, was written and released in 1967 to promote the Monterey Pop Festival.
R.I.P.

^ That`s a long, sad list with a rather clumsy religious message.

I was planning to post about the demise of Scott McKenzie, but Psy-Fi beat me to it. Here`s a link with some more details, but one thing is immediately obvious; if you sing about love and flower-power, you live longer !

BBC News - Scott McKenzie, singer of flower power pop, dies aged 73
