Haven't seen Mars Attacks, but I remember it at least looking like a totally different movie. When I said "90s popcorn movie", I meant more the summer blockbuster, big budget, action/disaster movies that studios pretty much banked half of their revenue on. Like Armageddon, Twister, and Transformers. Michael Bay-core basically. I consider similar movies like Jurassic Park and Terminator 2 to be the same idea, but actually kind of intelligent, and therefore completely different. And Independence Day could still hang with those movies afaic.

That speech is epic. It used to get me hilariously pumped when I was 10-13. Haven't seen the movie in years so it still might. "Today... we celebrate... OUR INDEPENDENCE DAY!" is still one of my favorite lines in all of cinema.

OMG it does. That little bit of extra reverb on "But from annihilation!" is genius.

Jeez, the Oscars are on tonight. I know they are only suppose to honor those who passed away in 2016, but man, they gotta do a segment on Paxton.

You know that Kevin Bacon game The Six Degrees of seperation? I bet you could the same thing with Paxton. The guy's worked with everyone in the past 40+ years.

Seriously? Am I missing something? I thought that's Bill Pullman, not Bill Paxton. I love Independence Day too, but they should had stuck to the original ending where Randy Quaid flies the Bi-plane into the UFO and blows it up to smithereens.

Bill Paxton played a Nazi in Pat Benatar's video Shadows Of The Night.

Yeah, that's Bill Pullman. Bob. was saying that he wished Paxton would have been the President just so he could see him make that speech, which is why I was talking about it.

Oh, cause throughout Bill Paxton's career, many people confused him with Bill Pullman, or was it vice a versa people confused Bill Pullman for Bill Paxton.
