Newbies, regulars etc etc.
 

OK, sorry to sound uber liberal and all that jazz. but whats with all this anti-newbie bull****? they, like everybody else, just want to come on here and talk about music with people who share similiar interests. some talk absolute crap but a lot of "regulars" do to. it just sounds arsy when somebody completely dismisses what a new member has said with stuff like "stupid newbie" etc. we're meant to be on the brink of adulthood here (some of us are already meant to be adults). we were all new once.

if they deserve it they get it. just like all regular members do.

but you actually made a post specifically for "regulars" whats all that about?

Everyones hated when they start out. Im sure we can all remember that... Its probably just that theres more and more new members joining now, and so theres gonna be more arrogance and spamming and whatever. The 'stupid newbie' comments only come up when theres a newbie whos being stupid... I hope anyway.

i dont remember us "newbs" being this despised when we started. it just seems to have intensified lately.

Its cause theres more new members, hence more new member insults.

alot of the "newbies" (ugh, I hope i never use that word again) are in it for a quick thrill, i.e. they'll post a few times and never come back. Everyone's always skeptical of new people, that's how it works in the real world. But like LedZep said, there's one or two "regulars" that piss me off more than some of the newcomers. Btw, I like that Satchmo guy, I find him in a lot of the posts I'm active in, seems like a cool dude.
And I must have missed the meeting where everyone decided to hate Snickers.

exactly, a lot of them arent bad. satchmo for one is coll. jen is cool too. a lot of it is undeserved.

and who the hell is gonna want to join at all when we have 800 posts about how new members are all *******s and need to get out etc...

it's more annoying reading how much 'newbies' suck than what the newbies post themselves. It's been said, we were all hated in the beginning. So get the **** over it and stop complaining, if you have such a problem then ignore their posts. simple as that.

I think it`s more to do with idiots that just happen to be new rather than newbies as such.

I think there`s been some great new posters lately ...Kingjen , Ladyluckrules , SATCHMO , and I guess I could add Tommyrocker to that too.

I don`t think it`s fair to lump them in with the likes of Snickers & Millybig

I cant help notice how the lounge is more popular these days than the actual music forums. have we all run outta music to talk about? For instance, the rock forum- I swear, every thread is basically a carbon copy of the one before it (it's either metal this, or metal that, or slipknot blah blah). The punk forum- total disintegration. Nothing left to talk about, except how hot some unrelated-to-punk musician is. If anything, the new people keep things fresh, or at least rehash subjects that used to be fresh.

I think what you said could be a reason for it , but I think another is now that people know what I like musically & I have some idea what they like too , I want to know more about the people who post here.

Tommy - anyone that can have a good 3 page debate with me on a subject as strong as religon without resorting to childish namecalling or the oh so popular response of "whatever f_uck you!!" is ok in my book. Me and my bestest of friends get into debates all the time, always ending with a few beers and laughs, and never taking the others arguments as an attack on one personally. Good Job. :beer:

Yeah, I actually think your one of the coolest people here ! (for what that's worth coming from a newbie) Your one of the few people one this forum who knows their music inside and out. It just baffles me how difficult it must be to stay up on things living in the middle of wisconsin.

Just to clear the banning issue up, if a username is permanently banned, it only bans that username. However, gregb is able to ban the IP adress if it's neccesary.

When forums begin to piss you off, join new ones.
