That's what I used to think.
But I've changed my mind. You can let it be a day for capitalizm, but you can also see it as a reason to give your loved one some extra attention.
Whenever my girlfriend (she's my ex now but **** that) feels sad, I see that as a reason to send her a bar of chocolate via e-mail. Whenever I see her, which is only once a month or so, I see that as a reason to make or buy a CD for her.
Same goes for valentines day. Obviously not everyone treats their ex the way I do, but when you have a girlfriend, just use this day as a reason to give her something extra. Do it for the two of you, not because it's valentines day, bus just because you want to make her feel good.

I broke up with my middle school "boyfriend" on Valentine's day in 2000. Since that, I have never had a date on that day. I've started dating someone within a week of the holiday, only to break up before it came around again. I consider that to be karma.

How hard is it to find girlfriends when you're a lesbian?
I could imagine it's a lot harder than finding boyfriends?

ThePhanastasio 02-15-2011 05:50 AM

Oh yeah. Especially considering that only a MAXIMUM 10% of women are gay, and that I figure at least 3/4 of those are really butch (hunting, fishing, short hair, pick-up trucks) and not at all my type. Of the ones remaining, a lot of the ones I meet are dumb sorority girls who I have NO connection with whatsoever. Then there are just the others I don't click with at all.

So, I mean, I figure I have a pool of maybe .01% of the population I could ever foresee myself dating.

maybe you need to move to a more urban area.

ThePhanastasio 02-15-2011 08:50 AM

Yes - I'm working on moving to a more urban area. The places I've been in the northeast I've really liked a lot: Boston, NYC, and Burlington in particular - although Burlington only has a few thousand more people living there than in my city.

Yeah, pretty much. UVM seems like a nice school, and I know people who live up that way, so that's helpful. I also know a few people in Boston, although I don't know if there's anywhere I particularly want to go to school there...and I know two people in NYC, and my acting coach rents an apartment up there, so I'd be able to get a place to live. So yeah. I'm just kind of trying to figure it out right now.
