I have nothing against protestors. Hell i protest on occasion. but the tactics used by some infuriate me. Burning effigies of political leaders is barbaric. its attention grabbing, immature, and disrespectful. if you want him outta office prove a case against him. don't burn a picture. mongrels

~Sir John Frederick Maurice Things take on a whole new meaning when you put them in context. Th sad thing is that our kids will never learn about the times of peace in our nations history simply because the "civilized" nations of the world (America) know more about war than they do about peace. Why do US peace efforts fail? Probobly because we have less experiance wmaintianing peaceful relations with countries than waging war on them. As for your point stu I understand your frustration, and I agree that many people go to protests for the wrong reasons, but you can only hope that these same kids that go just to be cool acctually end up educating themselves and getting involved with a cause. And I still think that its really silly that people complain about litter when there country is murdering hundreds in foreighn countries. But yes I see the point your making and on some very small level I agree with you.

I protest straight to the point and to the people who are guaranteed to make more difference than I will with a sign shouting slogans....I trach my children about life and love and peace, and sharing and kindness to your fellow man...I have them around all races and punks and goths, my oldest sons dad is all about HIP HOP and my mom is a hippy, I expose them to make them realize that all people ar PEOPLE inside and have the rights to express themselves no matter who you are!
They are the future...our children, and they are who I put my energy into, cuz they will be the ones to make the most difference.....

the way i see it, war is the final solution to a problem that is unsolvable. WWII, it was needed. WWI it was needed. the falklands, the afghan, the gulf, the korean, vietnam...just a waste of innocent lives. the iraqi war is a tough one. i think something needed to be done. but not at the intensity it was conducted in. the amount of innocent people who died made it all a bit pointless considering that was the main point for going to war anyway- saving lives.
