I think it depends on the attention span of the reader but the last competition we did we used a limit which I think was 4000 words. I think anything below 5000 will get read, we're an intelligent bunch.

Could I maybe get some proper yes/no answers guys? I'd say we need at least five/six for this thing to work.

I'm probably in. I do have a few things I'm working on that wouldn't be right for the contest, but I think I have something I've been brainstorming about which could work well for it.

How necessary is the anonymity until the winner is announced? I'm not against it or anything, I just want to know why this is.

It's not necessary, it just seemed like additional fun to try and guess who wrote which piece.

Yeah, basically it just adds a bit more fun to the competition. Also means people can't be petty and change their vote depending on who wrote what.
