Its late night once again....I had a question...what would be the most cost effient way of recording all my songs? I dont want to put this off any longer...I just dont know the best way of going about it?
|
Not everbody chime in all at once with your ideas..lol...I can only register so much at a time. Great feedback though
|
i have no idea - i'm new to recording myself
you probably need a mixing board and a digital portable studio |

then do it like me, record on a two-track cassette, rerecord on an mp3 recorder, burn on disc

you can probably get them at a second-hand store or pawnshop
most mp3 players have built-in recorders |

Its cool...I thought id mention it while it was fresh on my mind or id forget once again.
|
oh okay, yeah i'm bad with that. If I don't write it down on a list I tend to forget

nope because I'm a unique beautiful butterfly and all of my songs are original pieces

none of any complete set of my lyrics ever remotely resemble anything else recorded (not the songs that I've heard anyway) and if they do, I throw some lyrical twist on it |
Ahh...I thought I had a good melody earlier but meh. Im just getting lazy now a days when it comes to writing I guess.
On a different note I see all the big wigs of the forum are on. |
yeah some kind of conspiracy is going down....

Well more like Admin is the big wig and then Yac is like our collective Pastor and if we want to communicate with Admin we have to pass our prayers onto Yac. |

Want a cheap & good recorder? http://www.bax-shop.nl/components/co...d_recorder.jpg Zoom H1. Will set you back about 100 bucks, can record via it's own microphone, has a line in, line out, mic in, even automatic recording level (should you ever want that). It's a great little thing. |

You just copy it to your computer and burn it to a disc with your computer.
It works like a camera or an mp3 player. You just hook it up and your computer will see the files :). |

Well it is really really good.
I used to own the more expensive H2, but this actually sounds a bit better. The mics are brilliant, it's really fast and if you want to use an external mic, that can be done too. So you can upgrade if you want to. You can plug in a pair of headphones to monitor yourself, which is a nice feature too. I would advise you to buy the additional accessory pack which contains an adapter, a little tripod, a protective bag and a windjammer. The Zoom H1 itself comes with a set of batteries and a 2GB SD card, that's it. |

No prob. There's no need to buy expensive stuff as you see.
Altough I must say I can't understand how they managed to build two microphones, pretty good preamps, some software and a display into a housing for such a tiny amount of money :) |
i didn't say it'll sound good using my technique
|
hahaha, then what's the use? ;D.
By the way, how do you transfer from cassette recorder to mp3 player? |
he said he wanted it "raw"
I just recorded direct from the speakers - i was going for the Daniel Johnston effect here's the result in case anybody's interested (which I doubt):- PatriKc Lim (Il Duce)'s sounds on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free |
Hahaha, I must admit it sounds rather cool, but probably a bit too raw.
You could always distort stuff afterwards :). |
i got a Daniel Johnston CD that sounds like that, and people hail him as a sort of folk hero so why not?
|
I appreciate the advice both of you gave and yes a raw sound is fine. Meaning it doesnt have to be perfect. I was just trying to go the cheap easy way to start out. Then if I ever get lucky enough to do a real recording ill cross that bridge then. I doubt ill ever get the chance to use any real equipment that would allow for a good recording though. But im not stressing on the quality at this point.
