I realize you were kidding but in all seriousness it changes from person to person. To some people thats true, to others non music threads are rarely even looked at. I think the forum is what you make it since its broken up so well.

Seems in general everyone has their areas. It is a bit annoying how the lounge is by far seemingly the most posted in section of the board.

If there were no Lounge, there'd be a lot more crap in the main forums.

"Dont'cha worry.... bout a thing...... cause every little thing... is gonna be ariiight," I think yous guys is doing just a fine job of running this bitch. Sure, some forums are down and you get the occasional poster who never has anything insightful to say, but hey... I've been here for a short ass time and I've already seen quite a few new members coming in, and some of them actually TRY. New members coming in means new music, new ideas, new styles, new advice, new wisdom, new jokes, and new INSIGHT. New insight leads to new insightful conversation and new relationships and musical collaborations, overall knowledge and respect for music, and a generally more optimistically musical atmosphere. So again, to all my finely tuned people of the Musical galaxy Banter planet... Every little thing is gonna be alright.

As tore says, individual members could post more constructive threads to encourage discussion, which is the way a forum works, no ? The quality of the posts is entirely in the hands of the members. His Prog and Fusion Album Club, for instance, is an excellent format for discussion, with just enough structure to ensure that everyone is on the same page. I`m surprised it`s the only one in MB.

Thank you Lisnaholic :) I'm happy to say that Ethan (Sleepy Jack) has just made a hip hop album club so now there are two! Everyone who like hip hop should check it out!

Ask yourself before each post, "will this help the topic or am I just posting this for the lulz?"

And MB is still great, by the way :)

Very good point there, Conan :)

Sometimes when I write PMs to people explaining why I've deleted their posts or threads, I summarize a similar message by writing that if you have something interesting to write, then write it and if you don't, then don't. By write, I of course mean putting some kind of effort into conveying your ideas, emotions or whatever it is you want to communicate across the forum.

Yes, I see your point and that's true. But I didn't mean it to be posting percentages in music & non-music forums, I didn't mean it to be interpreted as Music Banter is 10% Music forums and 90% Non-music Forums. Whether those percentages in 'Music Banter is 10% music 90% banter' could also represent the traffic music & non-music forums receive, I don't know - I never thought about it that way. I mean, as far percentages I gave when I said 'Music Banter is 10% music 90% banter,' I would have to say reading something objectively written about music is around a 10% occurrence; and the task of reading other people's opinions about and then reading other people's reactions to other people's opinion is about 90%. It's just an observation and the percentages are just rough estimations, not to be taken in all too serious manner.

Hey all, I'm going to be posting a short survey in the lounge shortly, it will be in relation to your experiences with the MB community etc. I am a digital-marketing student in Dublin, Ireland and the moderator 'Tore' has kindly allowed me to interact with the community.

It's an ethnography study - which basically means going native with the community to observe, participate and interact to get a good round view on what makes up the culture and it's members and their experiences. I'm a music lover myself so it's quite interesting to be involved in the area

The purpose of the research is get an overall idea of how the community works and make a report on it. The report is mutually beneficial as I will involve the MB community in the feedback so that it is completely transparent and everyone benefits for any findings or points of interest I may come across.

I will be posting the Questionaire/Survey in the next half hour.............It would be great if everyone could answer it would help me of course ;) but also the community!:thumb: Thanks guys
