The 2010 Musicbanter Awards - Nominations Round.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the open discussion for this years awards. Your opinions have been taken on board and a few changes made in the nomination categories.
All members now have the opportunity to vote for any MB member you wish in each category. This will then allow me to draw up a multiple choice list of candidates for each award based on the submissions of the community as a whole and will commence a voting round where you can vote for the member you want to win each award. Please be honest in your voting and nominate the member you feel most accurately fits the descrption. This ensures that the vote is fair, without bias, and that your vote is counted but also that if the member you nominated doesnt make the list, you can still participate fully in the voting round and have your say.
Please send your nominations list to me via PM or if you wish to do so, post it here in this thread. You have until 21st December to get them in and the final voting round will run from 22nd -31st of December. The results will be posted in the new year. The revised list of categories are below. Most Underrated Poster - The site's biggest underdog - someone who's positive impact on the forums is generally underappreciated or often goes unnoticed. Smartest poster - The forums smartest member. Most Missed Poster - The member who's presence on the boards you missed the most in 2010 due to their long periods of absence or inactivity. Best Journal - The best Members Journal. Biggest Drama Whore - The member who most often surrounds him or herself with drama. Sexiest Member (male) - The male member with the most sex appeal. Sexiest Member (female) - The female member with the most sex appeal. Best argumentalist - The member who's best at discussing and communicating intelligently and effectively. Worst argumentalist - The complete opposite. The member who's presence in a discussion is usually the most disruptive Best Writer - The best writer on the site, whether they are writing a review, a summary of their day, a rant and everything inbetween. Biggest music nerd - The member who's most knowledgeable about music. Funniest member - The member with the best sense of humour and who often makes you laugh. Angriest member - The bitterest member, a cynic who often responds with hostility and bitterness towards new and old members Nicest member - The kindest member, always makes an effort to treat people well, with respect, and to be nice. Biggest Troll - The member who's presence anywhere in the forums is most disruptive Biggest contributor - The member who's posts and threads have contributed the most to the overall quality of the site in 2010. Most Improved Member - The member who's somehow improved the most in his or her behaviour on the site in the past 12 months. Most virtuosic - The member with the highest level of skill with an instrumental ability. Best avatar - The best member avatar of 2010. Moderator of the Year - The member of the mod team who has helped to moderate the site the most in 2010 and who's work and efforts are the most appreciated. Best new 2010 member - The best new addition to the site in 2010. Member of the Year 2010 - The overall best member of 2010. The member who we love, appreciate and respect the most. Most Mainstream Music Taste - The member with the most commercial, mainstream taste in music. Most Obscure Music Taste - The member with the most varied or obscure taste in music. Best Thread Starter - The member with a consistent habit of making throught provoking threads that manage to bring the community together in healthy, lengthy topic of debate or discussion. Best Mediator -The member who is best at controlling arguments, limiting negative behaviour but keeping the discussion fair, on-topic and interesting. |

Most Underrated Poster - Janszoon, despite being a mod for nearly two years his posts go unnoticed by a lot of the members, yet it doesn't seem to rub him the wrong way so I commend him for that.

Most Missed Poster - Ethan (sleepyjack), I was just starting to get to know him before he left, I hope he's doing well where ever he is. Best Journal - Aural Fixation by Gavin B. Biggest Drama Whore - boo boo, unintentionally or not drama seems to follow him. Sexiest Member (male) - Three way tie between adidasss, Big3, and Barnard17 Sexiest Member (female) - dreadnaught, I have a think for redheads with blue eyes plus she likes some good hip hop. Most Underrated Poster - CanWllCorfe. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like he flies under the radar a lot despite posting often. He is one of the truly untapped resources for excellent electronic. Oh, and black metal. Smartest poster - Tore, my fellow science buddy. Most Missed Poster - Do they have to be back? I'd say Schizotypic just because he was one of the first ones to welcome me and give me recommendations here...then he bailed. Best Journal - Anteater's. Prog is one of my favorite genres, but also one of the most risky when delving into new material. His journal has provided me with great recommendation after great recommendation. Biggest Drama Whore - Paloma. Thinking back on the whole hand thing solidified this one. Sexiest Member (male) - Janszoon. Some would say he is too sexy. Sexiest Member (female) - Vanilla. This was a tough one. There are quite a few sexy members on this board, but Vanilla is definitely the most up front about her sexiness. Some of her posts...well...I'm sure most of you know what I'm talking about. Best argumentalist - Freebase. Really good at getting the other person to question their logic while keeping it friendly. That's the best way to argue, if you ask me. Worst argumentalist - OctaneHugo. Best Writer - cardboardadolescent Biggest music nerd - James. His age was also taken into account. I don't even want to think about what he will know in 10 years. Nicest member - AwwSugar Biggest Troll - Dirty Biggest contributor - Tore Most virtuosic - Conan. It was honestly a tie between him and Freebase, but someone already voted for Freebase and I wanted to make it interesting. Best avatar - Mr. Dave. I love that Panda thing. Moderator of the Year - mojopinuk Best new 2010 member - The Phanastasio. She just jumped right in and now it feels like she's been here forever. Member of the Year 2010 - mojopinuk. While I personally don't notice you starting a lot of threads, you are here often, your music tastes seem well rounded, you connect with a lot of other users here and you don't treat people like ****, even though you may disagree with their point of view. I've seen quite a few well informed posts from you and when called upon to explain something you've posted, you do so clearly.
