How it worked last year (which I liked), was that you could nominate up to three people in each category, and then all members that got a certain number of nominations would progress to the voting round. I assume it will be the same this year, though with only one nomination per category allowed, I feel like the majority of canidates only recieved 1-2 nominations, so it's possible everyone nominated will progress to the voting round (pointless)

I believe that's wrong. If you read last years guidelines that Mojo posted a few pages ago, I think you'll see that 2010 is being done exactly like 2009. The one flaw I can see is that you can only nominate one in the nomination round. I guess nobody noticed or cared about that rule last year, though..

Thank you both for responding. Do either of you know how the whole selection process for the short list goes? Does everyone one who was nominated make the list? Or is the top three or something? Or only people with a certain number of nominations?

One of the things that really confuses me is the comment in the OP that even if your nomination doesn't make the short list you can still participate fully. Does this mean that you can still do a write-in of whoever you want in the voting round? That's certainly how I'd prefer to do it but it seems like it would make this first step in the process pretty redundant.
