Nice to see the UK in 26th place...just ahead of Singapore, Czech Republic, Slovenia, Andorra and Slovakia. :(

aw yeah. I just had an argument with my housemate about this, actually. She stated that America has the best political system in the world, and the dialectic went:

Me - "Wow, you've studied every political system in the world?"
Her - "Well, we have the highest standard of living."
Me - "Eh, no we don't. We examined this in my Econ class last year. There's some kind of index that ranks the quality of living in countries, and although the US is up there, I distinctly remember it wasn't number one."

Ireland was really really high at one point, although I think the inspectors caught sight of the dole queues when they were drawing up this one.

Don't knock it, everything's flat and swampy where I am. Would be nice to see some mountains, or even a hill.

I think the ratings change every year because every jackass in the world tries to move to wherever when it tops out at number 1, improving their place of origin by several degrees.
