I don't see why anyone would ever have a landline phone. Sure, it's cheap, but if you're in trouble somewhere, it's better to have a mobile phone.

I haven't even used a landline phone outside of a work environment in over 3 years. I bet they'll be extinct in 10 years.

However, I am incredibly bothered that there are people in this world right now who may not be able to identify this object:

or this beauty:

I definitely have an affection for antiques, and wish I had a reason to house a rotary or box telephone.

Once upon a time you had to get a landline when you signed up with telecom for your net connection. I've never had any pressing desire to own a mobile phone

I feel like I've somehow duped people who tell me that I'm nice.

I remember that. My parents still keep a land line, though they've got cell phones (it must be hilarious watching my dad try to figure out his iPhone). I don't really get it. My grandmother just got a cell phone (she's learning how to text) after years of practically hissing at them and declaring witchcraft.

(She thinks computers are the mark of the devil - she isn't even 65 years old.)

me too.

I get these little old ladies that are all "oh, you're so sweet/cute/polite/whatever" and I'm thinking to myself "I'm pretty much an asshole to most people, I'm just getting paid to make you think you're special".

But sometimes they're pretty cool and I genuinely like them, so I don't know, the rule doesn't always apply.

people probably look at you like you're some kind of eccentric, and half-expect there to be bodies in your crawlspace.
