I listen to Manowar and the Insane Clown Posse. Yup. Totally pretentious.

Was totally directed at Frown.

Batlord > Pretentious

If having some priorities about the music that I listen to such as it having any element that interests is the same as being pretentious, then so be it.

To me it's not really a matter of talent, it's a matter of taste. Steve wilson sounded fine he just didn't do anything for me. from the 2 songs i heard from him i gathered he's a progressive guitar guy and im not really into that kind of music, on contrast this

Really appeals to me.

Im digging the guitars in this band. they sound really angry yet very creative. im still not used to the vocals, they sound a little too emo in some songs but the rhythm section i instantly liked.

I thought this was gonna be a Stranglers cover but i was way off.

Same here, Wilson is actually very talented at what he does. I've seen videos of him tearing it up on guitar. It's just that what he does is not something that anyone should be doing imo.

No problem with that at all.

It's with you passively dismissing, in a condescending tone, everything else that doesn't meet "your" standards.

Reading that that part of the movie Frank where the band locked themselves away in a cabin to record an album was somewhat inspired by Van Vliet has got me reconsidering the guy, for the record.

I'm not really dismissing Wilson, I'm quite aware of what his music sounds like since my dad is a huge fan and he plays it at me all the time. Condescending I can see, but that's just the cost of me being very opinionated. Sorry about that.

Everyone can use more Beefheart in their life, but his music sounds nothing like what they make on Frank. Tbh, I think the best way to get into him is listening to Safe As Milk first then going into Trout Mask Replica because it can be a bit overhwelming on the first (or second) listen.

Dayglo sounds pretty good.

The guitars don't really appeal to me much but i like the punk like vocals and energy the band has. i guess i should thank you guys cause i don't feel im in a rut anymore.
