What an inspirational story! See, this is what I mean when I say to people that what I do isn't much compared to what others go through. There is, sadly, always someone much worse off than yourself in the world. I wish your friend all the very best and hope she is able to cope: talk about a double whammy (or even triple!) :(

Makes you wonder why some people moan, doesn't it?

Thank you very much for your best wishes for her. She is also going to college now, majoring in psychology. I can't think of a better person, life experience-wise and maturity-wise, to ultimately be in a position to advise others! I always tell her her future patients will be very fortunate, and can I be one of them? ;)

My very best wishes to you and your sister as well.

Trollheart I can't believe how incredibly tenacious you are. I couldn't imagine how difficult it must be for you and your sister. I'm not sure how you feel about God but I'm telling you now that you will be rewarded for your acts and your sister will too for being so strong. I really do hope your brothers mend their ways because there is no excuse for that kind of behaviour when it comes to family. They obviously haven't heard of unconditional love and you have every right to be upset with them. I hope it works out for you though.:)

Thx Vanilla, it's appreciated. As it happens I don't believe in God (though you can bet when I die if there's a Heaven I'll be banging on the door --- let me in you bastards! I BELIEVE!!) but it would certainly be nice if one did exist. Looking at how much crap there is in the world though it's hard to believe, though of course this is all our fault and I guess he could be like some kid who was playing a game and then got bored and went for a walk. When he comes back (several thousand years later, just in time for his mega-tea) if he finds civiilsation destroyed does he blame himself, or just shrug and go to see what's on the telly?

But I do believe my mam is looking down on us, and it certainly gives me a surge of pride when either of my sisters, or my aunt, says that ma would be proud of me. Again though, I don't see the big deal: how could a brother NOT do this? How could you leave your sister helpless, or in care, and go on with your life? Couldn't do it, not me. Can't understand how anyone could.

Trouble with being the only one though is that when (as happened recently) I get sick, there's no-one to take care of me and I still have to look after her, no matter how bad I feel. That makes her feel bad, but I just do my best to shrug it off. Luckily I'm rarely that sick: no going to bed for me! :)

I'm not sure Russia provides adequate amounts of juice to their women's booties. Are you sure you're up to taking a loss like that?

In Russia the juice in women's booties is vodka.
