I wish. I could explain that.

I feel so inadequate most of the time that I really don't know how I manage to keep living, though recently I'm so tired that I'm not sure I'm here at all.

About a third of my shirts are shirts I've had since the fifth grade.

I can't say that I really like poor people all that much. I'm weird, and from a social interaction stand point people in the lower classes don't seem to get weird people even more than other people don't, so it often feels like I'm trying to speak Cantonese in Moscow and get those looks that make it obvious the person thinks you're some kind of alien. Not that it's necessarily an active dislike, I just tend to have a "lack of like" for poor people that is disproportionate.

I have that problem with white trash.

Those types of people just disgust me, with their shitty clothes, lack of ability to properly dress themselves, repulsive grammar, redneck attitudes, hordes of children.... ugh. They make me fucking sick. (I realize that's really such a rude thing to say but no matter how broke I've ever been, I've never been trash.)

Does that mean you hate yourself?

I'm not gonna lie, it's not just the white trash and rednecks that I don't really click with. A disproportionate percentage of minorities are poor, so... yeah. It is what it is. I won't be surprised if I catch some flak for that, but it's nothing personal. If you're brought up in that kind of "poor culture" (if somebody has a better term than that I'm all ears) then chances are we just don't have anything much to say to each other.

It's not about the money. It's the culture you're brought up in. I'm certainly not burning up the social ladder, but my family is still solidly middle class in mindset and so am I. Same thing with whatever you want to call "cool" people. I'm a dork. I generally have nothing much to say to someone who actually cares about wearing name brand clothing.

I was under the impression classism wasn't as big a problem overseas as it is here. I grew up pretty disadvantaged and I turned out okay so I'm pretty offended.

I'm a broke person who grew up in a trailer, and my impressively apathetic nature causes me not to be offended by your conversation.

Please continue sipping your tea and nibbling your crumpets haha.

Exactly. I'm not exactly wealthy by any means (I do live quite comfortably, mostly due to the fact that I don't have any brats crawling up my leg) but a lot of poor people really have no idea how to act. It's not completely their fault if they were brought up in a culture of Billy-Bobs and momma's having her 12th kid or whatever, but still. I tend to passively ignore them or avoid them as much as possible (as they're also really annoying - I get a lot of attention from these people because of my hair, or the things I wear or whatever, and they're just attracted to me and wanting my attention) because they're just unpleasant.
