I guess this is the difference. I laugh...a lot.

I know this sounds bad, but I still play neopets. frequently.

Me too!
The feeling you get when you find one... it's like you won a car on The Price Is Right or something. I don't know what it is, but there is gratification in knowing that you found a mistake that a professional copy editor did not.

You find a typo in a book... then just idle on the offending word thinking "Heh... I totally found your ass. You couldn't escape my superior gaze. These guys should hire me instead."

man, you totally nail a bunch of the major points of discussion we had in our game design theory classes from 10-12 years ago. pretty sad that nothing has really changed since aside from graphics getting crisper. especially when 'geek' culture went mainstream...

the ONLY way we were ever able to perceive a legitimate shift in video games nearing anything close to the human imagination would require a significant leap in artificial intelligence possibilities. unfortunately with the way the industry is moving towards consoles and pre-packaged standardized tools i'm not holding my breath on legitimate innovation happening anytime soon, then again when's the last time you met a 6 year old who knew what their imagination was?

lol, I know it's pretty bad, but I'm thinking of giving it up soon. I feel like a lame-o still hanging around on neopets and WAY too many emo/scene/mainstreamers hang around there. I might freeze my account.

EDIT: account frozen. goodbye, cruel neopet world.
