I don't prefer most songs that I can't understand the lyrics to. Music is too powerful to let people play with you and not understand what they are saying.
To me, the music should illustrate the words, and the words should describe the music. Did someone say rap/hip hop? here is today's selection, even if in the wrong thread/forum: |

I usually go with B), though in most cases said "distraction" does NOT involve reading, writing, or math. It's usually more like "hey, i need to clean my room...I'll listen to some music!" I have a good memory for lyrics, and if I can't sing along to a song, it's not *quite* as enjoyable to me, though good lyrics can never make up for **** music (while good music almost always makes up for **** lyrics).
