Who is your favourite character from Friends?
Ahhh, yes, who would you choose from these fine people?
http://images.fanpop.com/images/imag...00_800_600.jpg For me, it's definitely Chandler, hands down. |
It was close between Chandler and Rachel, but I went with Chandler.
|
Hey...
how you doin'? |
 |
I don't think I can choose. I've gotten obsessed with every character one time or another.
I think my favourites would be a tie between Monica in her extreme neuroticism and Chandler self-destructing awkwardness, third is Phoebe and then comes Ross. Still it's depending on the season. Ross has his moments (specially when he was playing his "music" and the recurring "WE WERE ON A BREAK!!"), so does Pheebs and her smelly cat. So I don't think I can vote on this one :/ |
I like Monica because she's hot. I couldn't care less about the other ones. And don't play the Rachael card.. She reminds me of feces for some weird reason, so I could never get into her.
Never really watched the show in any dedicated fashion. Just caught episodes here and there for a few years, but I think all three of the guys are douchebags, with chandler being the least douchey of the bunch, but still with plenty of douche. I mean.. there's a lot of clean vag on that show. But yea... Monica is/was fun to watch. |
Yeah I love Monica as well, in fact probably every character except for Phoebe for some reason. She just plainly pisses me off. If I had to subject myself to an order, this would be it:
Chandler > Joey > Monica > Ross > Rachel > Phoebe |

My inequality of Friends:
Joey>Chandler>Ross>Phoebe>Monica>Rachel |
Yea I think Phoebe was only second in doucheness to Ross. It was embarrassing to know Ross existed, even in fictional television shows. And Phoebe was just too dumb to even take pleasure in laughing at without feeling like you're going to hell. She was borderline mentally retarded. Then Joey... poor guy.. poster child of a large percentage of the population of males, but he somehow managed to make that population look better by being completely void of any common sense.
Rachael, couldn't stand her whole act. I'd never be able to date a girl that dependent on absolute shit. Monica was hot enough for me to not really focus on her character's flaws, so I can't really bring any to mind. But yea, sorry for being the pessimistic asshole. It's pretty much the only thing I'm passionate about. Being a pessimistic asshole. |

It's probably good though, because if he did make an impression on me, I'm pretty sure it would be a negative one. All I can say is he's not as annoying as most of the other ones. |

I'm a people critic. Even moreso than a music critic or an art critic or an ideals critic or a philosophy critic or a politics critic. I just seem to have more of an interest in having people and their behaviors under a microscope than anything else. I guess a lot could be said about that, in context with distracting myself from my own flaws, but I'm the harshest critic of myself and to me, it's healthy.
It's just easier to say something about fictional characters like the ones in Friends because they're fictional and won't hurt anyone in particular, but they're also representations of the people who identify with them on certain levels and I think that speaks more to my interest than sitting around idly and watching someone else live their fake lives. |

It is healthy, and I see where your coming from. I'm a bit of a critic myself, but of more superficial things, not really judgement of character. Im far too lazy for that. I'm interested in your philosophy critisism though. I took a course in it not to long ago and I'd like to hear your opinion on the whole matter, if thats okay? :) |

Anyway, I never get enjoyment out of just idly watching something on TV. The majority of the stuff I watch is either educational or thought-provoking. I do like comedy as well, but that's sort of a mood thing for me. Otherwise, there needs to be some kind of stimulation. |
I think the characters in Friends though, are made to be so vastly different from one another that they are supposed to appeal to people in some way or the other. What one character might lack, another might possess. This is just what I always thought when I was watching it. In my case, seeing I as absolutely abhor Phoebe, some other person might connect with that character almost as much as I hate them. So I guess at least one character on Friends should be agreeable to you in some way.
I guess in Dali's case, Monica's hotness agrees with him..lol |
I just don't think their personalities, interactions and experiences with each other are realistic enough to relate to in any way that would make me care about them.

Ive often had conversations about Friends and which character we are most like, and people rarely like to be compared to Ross or Monica, which I find strange, as I find both their characters very funny. Pheobe's alright, she and Joey are quite similiar. Except Joey is cute and loveable, while Pheobe has no excuse for her dumbness. Either way, I still like her character. I mostly get compared to Chandler, simply because I'm very sarcastic. But so are Ross, Rachel and Monica. Yet Chandler seems to be associated with the dry comments  |
Well when me and my friends talk about that same question I'm kind of compared to being a cross between Ross and Chandler. I think I don't mind the comparison though, sounds fair. I love sarcasm and academia related stuff, so I'm actually content with it.
