You put much more thought into this that I do. When I watch Friends I just watch it, I dont really analyze. But thats not the point.

It is healthy, and I see where your coming from. I'm a bit of a critic myself, but of more superficial things, not really judgement of character. Im far too lazy for that. I'm interested in your philosophy critisism though. I took a course in it not to long ago and I'd like to hear your opinion on the whole matter, if thats okay?
Well I don't particularly criticize philosophy in general. I'm more a critic of certain human tendencies to subscribe to certain philosophies and how it reflects on them. But that's a whole different can of worms that needs its own thread and populous, complete with convenient examples.

Anyway, I never get enjoyment out of just idly watching something on TV. The majority of the stuff I watch is either educational or thought-provoking. I do like comedy as well, but that's sort of a mood thing for me. Otherwise, there needs to be some kind of stimulation.

I think the characters in Friends though, are made to be so vastly different from one another that they are supposed to appeal to people in some way or the other. What one character might lack, another might possess. This is just what I always thought when I was watching it. In my case, seeing I as absolutely abhor Phoebe, some other person might connect with that character almost as much as I hate them. So I guess at least one character on Friends should be agreeable to you in some way.

I guess in Dali's case, Monica's hotness agrees with him..lol

I just don't think their personalities, interactions and experiences with each other are realistic enough to relate to in any way that would make me care about them.

Well at least thats something...

Ive often had conversations about Friends and which character we are most like, and people rarely like to be compared to Ross or Monica, which I find strange, as I find both their characters very funny. Pheobe's alright, she and Joey are quite similiar. Except Joey is cute and loveable, while Pheobe has no excuse for her dumbness. Either way, I still like her character. I mostly get compared to Chandler, simply because I'm very sarcastic. But so are Ross, Rachel and Monica. Yet Chandler seems to be associated with the dry comments

Well when me and my friends talk about that same question I'm kind of compared to being a cross between Ross and Chandler. I think I don't mind the comparison though, sounds fair. I love sarcasm and academia related stuff, so I'm actually content with it.

Thats a good one though, paleontology's (sp?) cool! I'm Chandler and Rachel, meaning I'm sarcastic and shallowish. Though my friends put it much more nicely

I mean, I dont think I'm that shallow, but thats what Rachel was in the early Friends episodes. My actual friends put its this way "Your quite sweet but naive like early Rachel..." aka: shallow. -.-

And friends are too sugar-coat blows like 'Your shallow'

Not that, but in the sense that when the show first started, Rachel was the superficial, shallowish one. She improved a lot though. I like to think I am too

And your not an *******, are you? You seem very cool to me
