The Bay Area isn't all the same, though. I'm not going to say my city is super special, because it really isn't, and it's relatively small compared to the bigger and better known cities here, like Berkeley and SF... but somewhere up north like Napa or Santa Rosa is a lot, lot different than somewhere in the east bay, like Newark or Union City.

I do get what you're saying, though. I was being hypothetical, I really don't know why our experiences would be different.

Well, sure, there are some variations from city to city within any area, I could say that about anywhere I've lived. But coming to the bay area as an outsider (I lived in San Jose by the way) I can honestly say that I found the whole region to be more alike than different.

I got into rock music at 9 years old. But, not fully until I was 13. And at that time I was in the Projects soo I got picked on a bunch.. Because I didn't like Rap music.. One time a kid throw my Tape Deck out of the Bus Window..

you could say yes and no for me, someone tried to hook me up with this girl based off of musical tastes i like indie music like The National, Bon Iver, The Postal Service, Bright Eyes, etc... and well she considered indie music to be 30 seconds to mars, fall out boy, blink 182, paramore, etc... let's just say we didn't quite hit it off

For whatever reason, being a massive music geek seems to be largely a guy thing. When I was out there dating I honestly never was with anyone who was super into music. There were a couple punk/hardcore scenester-types but I don't really think of people like as being into music, they're more into the scene than anything else.
I know exactly what you mean. I have never talked to a girl who has ever bought music or listened to a full album. Not that downloaders can't be music lovers... but never? I think that's pretty crazy to never like a band enough to buy a CD.

Also, one thing I've noticed is that girls will have alot of bands, but they'll only have one or two singles from the band. It might just be the area I live in(small redneck-ish town), but still, it's kind of weird.

The answer is simple, a lot of girls are too busy getting laid to give a f*ck about music. That's also why frat boys have such awful taste.

Introverts tend to have better taste in art overall because they have more free time on their hands and more gaps they need to fill from not having as much of a social life.

As in we're likely to get more serious about these things because we got nothing better to do.
