Regarding being hooked up based on music preference:
It's a requirement that my girlfriend A) is an attractive girl containing all the necessary attractive girl parts.. B) Doesn't horde them. But, to be in a relationship, long-term, it's a requirement that I'm able to stand being around her. So personality is a big factor, but I also don't want to come home and have to endure music I hate and listen to her talk about it, nor would I want her to have to deal with the same. Stuff like that tends to erode a relationship little by little until all that's left is a gaping maw of a life drilled silly by Jay-Z or Ashley Simpson. Fortunately, though, I have a way around that.

Fortunately for me I'm both incompatible music and personality wise, so I've never had anyone hook me up with a chick. All of the chicks I've gone out with have asked me out so I've never really asked out anyone before. To be fairly honest, a girl could listen to Led Zep and Elton John and I'd still consider being in a serious relationship with them. Well, my point is if she's a really good person and digs half decent music then it's awwww right.

But nothing much beyond that.

The thing is if my girl's taste differed from me a lot I wouldn't mind as long as she is willing to at least try to get into the things I'm passionate about and in return maybe I can grow to tolerate the Lady Gaga.

Thats how I feel. Though if my guys taste was, well, crap, and he tried to push it on me I wouldnt like it. Similarities in music for me can help, but arent really a necessity. If we like seperate things thats all cool, but lets keep it seperate. If you try to get me to like overly screamo stuff, I'm not going to start enjoying it. I'm just going to start hating you for pushing it on me.

Yeah. I've been able to get into relationships with people who hate the music I listen to, and vice versa. But nothing that really lasted that long, despite trying to get into/tolerate each other's favorite bands. Music has actually contributed to the downfall of more than one of the relationships I've been in. (I'm a little argumentative when you play Insane Clown Posse in MY car while I'm trying to drive.) I like having a lot of common ground with someone, especially musically, because talking to them is a lot easier. Again, being passionate about what you listen to is good enough for me, if you've also got something inside your head that isn't lint and a personality to go with it. But more often than not, I come across people who are insanely attractive to me, but are seriously lacking in at least two of those departments. It never goes anywhere. However, I'm not really everyone, so... :/ excuse the rambling.

Yeah, a lot of the girls here have nice taste so I don't really think girls are more likely to have sh*t taste it's just different taste and stuff that they relate to better or whatever. Plenty of guys have awful taste by my criteria, and I'd much rather listen to bad synth pop than terrible metalcore and Insane Clown Posse.
If my girl's last FM compatability to mine is at least medium I think we'll be alright. |

I like pseudo goth girls, you know the ones that wear a little goth makeup and can still be very sexy and still tend to be optimistic about life.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah
So many punk boys don't shower. Like, a ****ing vast majority. Not okay, but you know you gotta pick and choose. I took the few that showered. The relationships were pretty much **** anyway. I did have an affair with someone who had the exact same music taste as I did, and he has a horrible personality so good personality + ok music taste > **** personality + excellent music taste |
