My last partners music taste was so different to mines, he liked Motown and other stuff, other stuff i didnt care to remember because i didnt care what he listened to. I know he was into 60's/70's/80's music.

I've experienced it before, but it was self-imposed. It used to be my main factor for dating eligibility. I was one of those stereotypical "unique" kids in highschool, you know, this kind:

And add holding pretty much everyone up to ridiculously high standards, including myself.

Right now, I could care less about music taste. Being passionate about it is good enough for me. You can even be passionate about Brokencyde, ****, just, I don't know, have something in there. Have a brain. That's more important to me. I want me one of them readers.

i had a similar thing in which i met a girl who had a ****load in common, and music was one of them, and we got together without anyone else really involved.

There was a girl in middle school that other kids tried to hook us up, but not specifically on musical taste. Basically just because we kind of looked/dressed similar. I had long hair and wore a lot of dark clothes (duh), and well, so did she. To be honest, we actually did have giant crushes on each other, but I was painfully shy back then, so we never actually went out together. We just kind of sat next to each other on the bus and talked about music and drugs, even though we weren't even 13 yet. I still see her around town. She tends bar at a place we play at a lot.

No, although I do tend to enjoy going out with girls who are into good music (or even just decent music) more than those who have no interest in it at all. Usually they're just more interesting in general, I find.

On an aside, I've dated quite a few of these 'emo' girls as well. Total posers, and some of their male pals are amongst the biggest goons I've ever met. However, hot scene girls turn me on no end, so it was good. Although it never lasts long with those types, they're just insufferable after a while.

Truth. I've been pretty lucky thus far as far as girlfriends and musical taste goes. I've tried to stop basing my opinions of people on such criteria, but I can't help it sometimes. There's a girl I've been hanging out with lately and she's into really **** music. Every time I ride in her car, I'm waiting for the ride to be over. Needless to say, I've been distancing myself lately. Old habits.

To be honest, as I said earlier, I guess music isn't really something I 'look' for when I meet someone cos generally I'll meet them at places I enjoy going or through mutual friends, hence we end up having at least vaguely similar tastes or things in common anyway... Like, I knew my other half for a good few years before we got together through going to the same clubs/bars etc.
