This thread makes me think of the time I saw a Rage Against the Machine air-freshener hanging from someone's rearview mirror.

But if you want to make something BIGGER than that, its a shame to turn it into ****ty pop just for it to be heard. whats the point? the desire for it to be heard has been consumed in the mutilation.

we're just going to have to agree to disagree.

the idea that an artist wanting to make something BIGGER and better than a pop star's attempt for attention is a somehow different or more purified form of art strikes me as a convoluted farce. they're still aiming at the same target and shooting for the same goal. just one is direct about it and willing to get their fingers dirty for short term, and the other wants to be obtuse and indirect while constantly checking over their shoulder to make sure people are noticing how much they 'aren't' trying to be famous.

after all, 'the desire to be heard' is just a fancy way of saying 'desperation for attention'.

You're all liars. Fact is most of us would sell out for the cash in an instance and if you didn't then you'd be a fool. A broke fool.

If that's the case, we're all hypocrites. Criticising something we'd all do ourselves.

you sure about that? my 2nd gig was opening for AlexisonFire and my old man still has contacts in the industry as well. pretty sure that if i had wanted to pursue making music for a living i could be doing a whole lot more than stirring the pot on the internet. broke? maybe, but a fool? not really, especially not after seeing how easily a person can be chewed up and spit out by both the industry and pop culture up close and personal.
