Woah, that's totally rad dude.
It's not just dude, mate/lad/fella/pal/dude = urgh. Although I often call people 'mate' if I barely know them. "Alright mate." I hate it but it's just a reflex of being uncomfortable and not knowing what to do. |

I wouldn't say I hate 'Dude' (along with Mate, Man, Fella at the end of sentences), for me it's just annoying because it's so overused.
I'm going to add 'skank' to my list. I don't know why, but I really, really hate that word.

I hate it cos it's so blokey, especially 'mate'. I only do it when I meet a stranger and I feel uncomfortable. But I've stopped doing it recently. I used to have a friend who would call me mate a lot. I felt like saying "Yes. We're fucking friends. You don't need to remind me all of the fucking time."

Mmm, thinking about it now I suppose the only time I ever use 'Mate' or 'Fella' is if I'm in the pub. And that's usually because I've forgotton their names. But then you have the other side of it - I hate it when people say Darling/Sweetie/Poppet etc. It's unnecessarily girly. I find it a little bit patronizing, actually.
