no, junkie has always been rather specific to Heroin. pretty sure it stems from coming into the west from Asia aboard boats called junks, hence the street name junk, and for those who abuse it - junkies.

most other stoner titles simply incorporate the name of the drug +head. hence pothead, cokehead, crackhead for weed, cocaine, and crack respectively.

I think it is safe to say junkie refers to opiates in general. In FL, we have many many many roxy junkies.
