Music Blog name

I'm thinking of starting a Music Blog.
What would be some good names?

Also, I expect this thread will get stupid replies, but I hope not.

Thanks in advance :)

That's not a bad idea... but I want people to find it on google by accident, rather than me telling people about it....

you should take a popular web address and switch up two letters. try musibcanter.com yahho, or something along those lines. Make it very flashy so that once they arrive, they are sucked in for life. or yopu could just create your own journal on this site, and not have to worry about attractuing people, because this is the greatest music forum you will ever find.

It might help if you gave some idea of the stuff you're going to put in this blog.

I mean there's no point suggesting calling your blog '1000 rotting mutilated corpses' if you're starting a blog dedicated to twee indie pop, is there?

mrguy 03-04-2010 12:17 PM

It would mainly be about less commercial stuff (I like post rock/prog), but I would give a few opinions on the commercial music scene...
Names I've thought of so far

between the headphones
The beat
Groove factory
Music factory
the sound if Muzak.

Any takers?

mrguy 03-04-2010 12:21 PM

Oh, and I wouldn't limit myself specifically to rock.
I might talk about some Dutch hip hop band. One reason for me to do this is to broaden my music taste.

I think that makes perfect sense. =D

Go to one of those band name generators all over the web and spend some time generating names. You might come across something that sparks an idea. (It would work in this scenario, because it's pretty random, but coherent in a creative way)

Just google: band name generator.
Try to find one that lets you use at least three words.

I also came across a pretty fun thing in sort of the same vein, and if I remember correctly, it was called phrase generator or something to that effect. It let you choose up to 5 words I think, and the type of word each generation would be.. ie. Verb, adverb, etc.
That might get some additional ideas rolling and REALLY helps with creativity when you match unconventional word types.

I actually like "1000 Rotting Corpses" for a twee pop blog...I'd definitely give it a look.

SATCHMO 03-04-2010 08:19 PM

The Facebook of Rotting Mutilated Corpses?

Call it Lady Gaga: The Fame Monster

mrguy 03-05-2010 09:23 PM

There's a blog I go to called Music For The Jilted Generation (which is an album by The Prodigy) I think if you had an obscure song title or album title that kind of went with your blog it'd be cool.

If it were me I'd probably call a blog "Today's Active Lifestyles" which is a Polvo album. The Greatest Gift would be a good one which is a Scratch Acid album. Maybe call it The Greatest Gifts if you'll be supplying free music.

Something Vicious for tomorrow would be good. A Treepeople album.
Just go down your library and find a good song or album name.

If you wanted people to accidentally find your blog then you'd have to call it something generic which is lame.

mrguy 03-07-2010 09:08 PM

Using that theory I can only think of "the sound of Muzak". Which is a porcupine tree song.

Arya Stark 03-07-2010 11:02 PM

Well look for more bands, then.

mrguy 03-07-2010 11:04 PM

:banghead::rolleyes:

First thing that crosses my mind is condoms.

BTown 03-09-2010 01:44 PM

I guess if you did want people to accidentally come across your blog you coudl just call it condoms since I'm sure that gets googled a lot.

Thrice 03-10-2010 09:38 AM

now that I think about it what the hell is a blog? Is it somewhat like our very own member journals? I am just an idiot and don't see the variance from MB at all. Welcome to heaven.

bubu 03-10-2010 10:48 AM

try some form of personalized name like "hot Joe's punk banter" or "Jimmy 5-man murky glass"
