Want me to ship one up to you?

Heh, I'm not sure how it happened, but I did an early opt-in for the WoW Cataclysm expansion and Blizzard sent me an invite for the SC beta. I don't even play SC, but my boyfriend sure was happy.

You don't play SC? Its the best game they've produced.

thanks but i'm just going to be patient. i'm not so huge on the multiplayer thing after all. also kind of iffy on today's announcement about facebook integration into battle.net.

i'm just hoping the campaign is thoroughly fleshed out and satisfying as opposed to a tacked on diversion like other recent games featuring large scale MP components.

I just never got into it. I would try it out, but my boyfriend hogs the gaming computer all day and the video card in my computer sucks ass.

well... considering the original is 13 years old unless you have some sort of antique video card it shouldn't be an issue.

That is true. Isn't it like Command And Conquer in its game play, like you have a base and have to push forward/protect it?

yup, exactly. only in space, and way more awesome.

Yeah starcraft rules, finished uni for the year so I've been playing a bit on iccup.

mr dave 08-17-2010 03:33 PM

bumping this now that the game has been out long enough for people to get a proper taste.

personally i'm super impressed with the campaign and the achievement system. though i find it annoying that you have a much wider variety of units in the single player than you do in MP. some of the new vehicles seem rather redundant and useless as well, did anyone ever use Diamondbacks outside of their specific mission?

i really like the idea of leagues as well but i've had less than great luck. getting paired up against a Gold for my first 1vs1 match after getting ranked as a Bronze wasn't fun for either of us.

if anyone wants to swap BNet info and have a few matches just send me a PM.

i need to start playing this more. i still completely suck and still want to learn it. i have been spending too much time on this site. it's a good game to have music compliment it too.

mr dave 08-18-2010 03:08 AM

^have you beaten the campaign yet? or are you just trying to go straight into MP?

i really dig the terran soundtrack. there's one track in particular where everyone kind of takes turns letting loose and i always wondered 'who the HELL is playing that?' (around 2 minutes in)

YouTube - Starcraft 2 Soundtrack - Terran 01

freaking Tony Levin! and a bunch of other people i can't remember right now.

they didn't cheap out in making this game haha

Holy **** :) He's totally noticeable, especially around 2 minutes in. Man, I don't have the game yet, but now I wanna get that and the soundtrack.

i am something like 16/26. i got upset and stopped playing for a bit when i started having trouble beating missions on normal.

that's unfortunate. i'm guessing you're nearing the end of the Horner and Tychus story arcs if you've beaten 16 so far. i remember a few of the later missions getting a little tricky, but i picked up a fancy strategy guide too. if you specify trouble spots i'll hook you up with tips :thumb: the protoss missions are kind of hard too.

it might also possible to beat the campaign with only 21 missions completed, though i'd suggest against that unless you're trying to get the speed run achievement. i did a test speed run for my 2nd campaign go-through and clocked about 9.5 hours, but i did an extra Protoss mission so i could unlock the last research item.

@Tore - you're right he's totally noticeable and incredibly obvious once you see his name in the credits. i just never expected someone like him to be making a video game soundtrack and not get any kind of press attention.
